Aging in Place
What is Aging in Place?
It is the capacity to live at home: Independently, Safely, and Comfortably; regardless of age or ability level. It means the pleasure of living in a familiar environment throughout one's maturing years, and the ability to enjoy familiar daily rituals and the special events that enrich our lives. It means the reassurance of being able to call a house a "home" for a lifetime.
How does it affect me?
It is wise to plan now for potential future needs, especially when undertaking home modifications. Home improvements that use aging-in-place techniques can be attractive as well as effective.
Whether for yourself or friends and extended family members, implementation of aging-in-place techniques and universal design products will make your home more enjoyable now, as well as have a broader market appeal if resold at a later date.
